Our History
In 1983, we founded Aerotek, a company that paired contract employment and consulting with superior customer service. As we grew, we built and acquired new businesses to provide our customers and candidates with greater degrees of partnership and value.

Family First
Cousins Stephen Bisciotti and Jim Davis started Aerotek in Maryland, USA as a contract engineering company providing technical personnel to the aerospace and defense industry. Aerotek experienced steady growth in the ‘80s, growing our footprint within the U.S. and expanding offerings, forming new divisions focused on Information Technology (Maxim Group), Automotive and Telecommunications.
Going Global
Aerotek grew into the commercial, environmental, and energy fields through the acquisition of Onsite. IT staffing services expanded with Telecom, Data Services and Maxim Group poised to meet growing demand. The company also established our first international operations in England and Canada. Our Data Services division continued to see high demand, becoming TEKsystems, and professional services were offered through Option One. Team Aerotek became our parent company, later changing our name to Allegis Group with Aerotek, Maxim Group and TEKsystems becoming separate operating companies.
Growing Into the 21st Century
Allegis Group Services (later renamed Allegis Global Solutions) was established to provide workforce management solutions. Aerotek’s Telecom division, Maxim Group and TEKsystems came together – grouping all IT staffing and services under the TEKsystems brand. Allegis Group acquired MarketSource and Major, Lindsey & Africa – expanding our service offerings to include outsourced sales and legal placement. The company also continued to expand capabilities in the accounting, finance and professional services space through Option One.
Sustained Growth and Strategic Expansion
We continued our strategic global expansion in line with the needs of our customers – adding London-based IT staffing firm Aston Carter to the Allegis Group family and growing our presence in the EMEA and APAC regions. The company continued to expand services capabilities as well – covering a broad range of talent solutions to create opportunity and solve business challenges.
Celebrating 40 Years
Aerotek reorganised into three specialised companies - Aerotek, Aston Carter, and Actalent. Today, with a track record of excellence spanning over 40 years, we continue to seek opportunities to grow – investing in new service and product offerings and constantly striving to create great experiences for our customers, candidates and contractors in an ever-changing world.
